This past Sunday night, Taylor Swift revealed a huge secret that she had been keeping over the last two years. Her brand new album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” will be released on April 19.

Swift announced the news while accepting an award at the 66th annual Grammys, which took place in Los Angeles this year on Feb. 4. Her sudden and unexpected statement about the new album has left fans all over the world with their jaws dropped in complete shock and excitement. Unprepared for such a huge surprise, fans and followers all over the world are already becoming impatient while waiting to see what is in store for them come April.

A majority of Swift’s fans have been awaiting a message from the world-renowned musician, but no one was prepared for it to be as big as it was. To fans’ knowledge, she had been spending most of her time performing her “Era’s Tour” concert and re-recording her songs that had originally been made when she was on a contract with Big Machine Records.

Over the past three years, Swift has released four of what fans assume to be six “Taylor’s Version” albums, after losing ownership and rights of her originals to her previous recording company. The first two released were “Fearless (Taylor’s Version)” and “Red (Taylor’s Version),” in 2021. After these two, she took 11 months off before disclosing her 10th studio album, “Midnights,” in late 2022, followed by two more re-recorded albums in 2023, “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” and “1989 (Taylor’s Version).”

Swift’s fans did not think that she had the time to create a whole new album on top of everything else that she has had going on. The announcement was completely unexpected, as most were anticipating the release of the re-recorded version of “Reputation,” from 2017. The artist even made several hints towards “Reputation (Taylor’s Version),” convincing many fans that it was going to be the soonest to come. People were paying close attention to her every move on social media and in videos to see hints that she was giving, finding a lot that matched up with the release of “Reputation (Taylor’s Version),” but none that coincided with “The Tortured Poets Department.”

Although the news was a complete shock to fans all over the world, Swifties everywhere cannot wait for April 19, when they can finally listen to this unexpected and mysterious new album.
