Oliver Van Beek, Staff Writer
Oliver Van Beek is a senior, first-year staff writer for the Statesman. When he is not wrangling story ideas or pretending he knows AP Style, he is usually on the golf course, convincing himself his short game is PGA-ready. Outside the newsroom, Van Beek serves as an NHS officer and helps run student council events, mostly by nodding along like he has any idea what is going on. He is also known for treating homework like background noise while he scrolls reels and for firmly believing music can fix anything. If anyone ever wants to talk acoustic guitar or needs someone to overanalyze Tyler Childers with, Van Beek is your guy.
